SiMa.ai Reaches $1.45 Billion Valuation as Physical AI Becomes the Next Major Computing Wave

Sept. 30, 2026

San Jose-based SiMa.ai has announced a $150 million Series C funding round, bringing its total capital raised to $500 million and increasing its valuation to $1.45 billion.

The oversubscribed round was co-led by Fidelity Management & Research Company and Amplify, with participation from both existing and new institutional investors. According to the company, the new funding will accelerate the development of its Physical AI platform and next-generation silicon designed for humanoid robots, automotive systems, drones, and other intelligent edge devices.

The announcement reflects growing investor confidence in Physical AI, the emerging category where artificial intelligence moves beyond cloud-based software and operates directly within real-world machines. SiMa.ai cites industry projections indicating that cumulative shipments of Physical AI devices, including robotics, automotive platforms, and drones, could reach 145 million units by 2035.

About SiMa.ai

Founded in 2018, SiMa.ai develops a full-stack Physical AI platform that combines proprietary machine learning silicon with software tools that enable AI workloads to run efficiently at the edge, without constant dependence on cloud infrastructure. The company's technology is designed for applications requiring low latency, high efficiency, and real-time decision-making, including robotics, industrial automation, autonomous systems, drones, and advanced automotive platforms.

At the core of its offering is the company's Machine Learning System-on-Chip (MLSoC) architecture and the recently introduced Palette Neat software environment. SiMa.ai positions its platform as a lower-power alternative to conventional GPU-based approaches, aiming to simplify the deployment of AI models from development through production. The company states that its software can support a broad range of AI models while reducing deployment complexity from months to days or even hours.

The fresh capital will also support the development of next-generation hardware targeting up to 1,000 dense TOPS (Trillions of Operations Per Second) of compute performance. These future products are expected to address increasingly demanding workloads in humanoid robotics, autonomous drones, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and AI-powered vehicle cockpits.

Founder & CEO: Krishna Rangasayee

Krishna Rangasayee, Founder and CEO of SiMa.ai, is a highly experienced semiconductor and AI industry executive with more than two decades of leadership experience. Prior to founding SiMa.ai, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Groq, a machine learning computing company. Before that, he spent approximately 18 years at Xilinx, where he held several senior leadership roles, including Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Senior Vice President and General Manager of the company's business operations.

Earlier in his career, Rangasayee held engineering and business positions at Altera Corporation and Cypress Semiconductor. He is credited with holding more than 25 international patents and has served on the boards of both public and private technology companies. His background in semiconductors, edge computing, and machine learning helped shape SiMa.ai's vision of delivering purpose-built infrastructure for Physical AI rather than adapting traditional cloud AI architectures for edge environments.

Commenting on the latest funding round, Rangasayee described Physical AI as a significant untapped opportunity, stating that humanoids, automotive systems, and drones represent the gateway to a massive future market where intelligent machines interact directly with the physical world.

The Investors: Why This Matters Most

From a strategic business development perspective, the investor syndicate may be the most significant aspect of this announcement.

The Series C round was co-led by Fidelity Management & Research Company and Amplify, while participation also came from Alter Venture Partners, Dell Technologies Capital, Maverick Capital, +ND Capital, Point72, and StepStone Group. New investors joining the round include AllianceBernstein, Baron Capital, J.P. Morgan, and the State of Michigan.

This investor mix is noteworthy because it combines:

  • Global asset managers such as Fidelity and AllianceBernstein.
  • Major financial institutions including J.P. Morgan.
  • Technology-focused venture investors such as Dell Technologies Capital and Maverick Capital.
  • Large institutional investment organizations including StepStone Group and the State of Michigan.

For companies seeking partnerships, ecosystem engagement, customer introductions, or strategic collaborations, these investors provide access to extensive enterprise, industrial, manufacturing, automotive, and government networks. Their participation also serves as strong validation of the Physical AI market opportunity and SiMa.ai's position within it. The presence of both technology-focused and institutional investors suggests confidence not only in the company's technology but also in its long-term commercial scalability.

Conclusion

SiMa.ai's rise to a $1.45 billion valuation marks one of the most significant developments in the Physical AI ecosystem. By combining purpose-built silicon, AI software tools, and a growing ecosystem of enterprise customers and strategic investors, the company is positioning itself as a key infrastructure provider for the next generation of intelligent machines. With support from leading financial institutions and technology investors, SiMa.ai appears well placed to capitalize on the growing demand for AI-powered robotics, automotive systems, drones, and other edge-based applications.
